How it started
From an agency to-do list that wouldn't behave
WebStuff is a web development and SEO agency. On any given week our designers, developers, writers and SEO folks are juggling a pile of client projects, and nearly every one of them involves handoffs.
We tried the usual project tools. Some were so big they needed a manual. Others were so simple that cards would sit in “In progress” for weeks while everyone assumed someone else had them. The work wasn't the problem. Knowing who was holding it, and what they needed to do next, was.
So we built our own board. It started with the basics we needed every day: a board for each project, a place for our clients, custom statuses and the right access for the right people. Then one idea changed how we worked: every card has an owner and a next step. When you finish your part, you pass the baton, and the next person sees it waiting.
Our clients wanted to peek at progress without emailing us for updates, so we added read-only guest access. Somewhere along the way we realized plenty of other teams, freelancers and solopreneurs have the exact same problem. That's when we knew it was bigger than our team.
Organizer Buddy is that board, polished up and opened to everyone: teams, freelancers and solopreneurs who want their projects organized without the busywork.
